My Latest Creations: Brass Extravaganza

I’ve had a bit of a love affair with antique brass lately.  I love the mix of golden brown and old world vintage that this metal has.  Here are a few of my new creations:

All of these items are available in my Etsy store.

Favorite Thing of the Day: Do-it-Yourself S’mores Party Favor Kit

diy smores kit favor

photo: Twig & Thistle

Twig & Thistle posted this great find they potted while shopping at Packaging Specialties, their favorite packaging store in Seattle.  I love DIY that is easy, beautiful and functional.  Would make a great favor for a rustic, fall wedding, right?  Details of how it’s made are posted here.

crochet chain necklace

This great crochet chain link infinity scarf/necklace by MissDanna makes me think of the fat gold chains that hip hop artists wore in the 80’s.  It is FRESH!  It’s available in other colors.  Perhaps I’ll get it in gold for the winter.

Making Tribal Dots and Dainty Flower Cabochon Earrings

Here are some photos of last night’s work.

red flower stud earrings

stud earrings handmade craftandsoul

tribal post earrings

All of these earrings have surgical steel posts.  I really love how light and fun they are.  Especially the tiny roses and mums.  These stud earrings can lend a bit a whimsy to your office attire or just jeans and a classic white tee.  Just the right pop of color!  I can wait to make more of the ones in the last photo.  Nothing like a great African wax print or tribal pattern.

Crafting for the Cause: Craft Hope

Craft Hope Spreading seeds of hope one stitch at a timeI love to tell people about the efforts of crafters who are using their gifts to help those in need.  That’s why I was so excited to find Craft Hope.

“Craft Hope is a love inspired project designed to share handmade crafts with those who need them.  It is our hope to combine our love for crafting and desire to help others into a project to make a difference around the world.”

My kind of people. They have organized quilt making efforts for Haiti Relief via Doctors Without Borders and the victims of the recent tornado disasters here in the US. They recently conducted an outreach project creating bracelets for Russian orphans.  I love, love the idea of sending love in the form of fun, usable, and functional items to those in need.  This is one effort I definitely plan to get involved with.  Here are some photos from CraftHope.com.

Did You Know That July is National Ice Cream Month?

Some people like ice cream.  Some can take it or leave it.  Then there are people like me.  People who despite the knowledge that they have no business eating it, have a passionate love affair going on with ice cream.  We may not see our lover everyday, or every month for that matter, but the love is still strong.

Here are some great crafts inspired by ice cream.
